Director: Emilio Rosa Producer: Tito Puente Jr., Donna Rosa Cast: Tito Puente Jr., Santo Alam, Christian Rosa
Synopsis: The Sun Shines on the Other Side of the Street, the touching tale of three generations of men-grandfather, father, and son-struggling to hold together in the face of poverty and generational differences starring Latin jazz master Tito Puente Jr. who will be in attendance.
Director: Emilio Rosa was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. As a child he shared his bedroom with one of his brothers and at night they would take turns telling each other stories so that they could fall asleep. Emilio would eventually become an actor/singer/songwriter who performed with the likes of Judy Torres, Nyasia, TKA, Nasty Boyz, and many more. Emilio was offered an acting scholarship by Marvin Felix Camilo, the founder of The Family Repertory Theatre Company, from there he starred in many theatre productions eventually becoming a screenwriter. After countless auditions, Emilio realized that most of the roles that were offered to him as a Hispanic male were stereotypical and decided to shoot his own films.
Emilio decided to form his own production company “Taino Rosa Productions”. The word Taino coming from his ancestors the Taino Indians from Puerto Rico.
Emilio created “ The Familia” a Latino love story yet to be filmed also starring himself, Tito Puente Jr., Santo Alam and others. He wrote it in collaboration with award winning writer Juan Shamsul Alam and P.J. Galati.
