USA 2007

What if the US Border Patrol and the Mexican Police find the corpse of an illegal alien lying right on the border line? Who would take the case? “Crossing Numbers” is a dark comedy about the indifference of the institutions towards the humanitarian crisis in the US/Mexican Border.
From 1945 to 1992, 467 people died trying to cross the Berlin Wall.
Meanwhile, Operation Gatekeeper, designed to stop illegal immigration from Mexico to the U.S., takes the lives of over 500 immigrants a year.
It’s time to bring to light the injustices of this humanitarian crisis in which Illegal Immigrants, on their journey to a better life, must guard themselves against a corrupt system on both sides of the border.
Abel Gonzalez was born in Murcia, Spain in 1971. He earned a degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Murcia while simultaneously working as a director for a traveling theatre troupe, which toured throughout North America, the Caribbean, North Africa and Europe.
In 1995, he was awarded a full scholarship to study Drama at the University of Puerto Rico. Upon graduating, Abel stayed on the island and worked as a freelance TV writer before moving on as a full-time advertising copywriter. His advertising career would soon take him to the United States, initially to Chicago and a few years later to Los Angeles, where he currently resides. In the years that followed, his creative work for top national advertising agencies garnered acclamation from industry insiders and awards at home, as well as abroad, such as Fiap, Cúspide, AHAA and the New York Festival.
In 2003, after a brief period in the Movie Marketing World, Abel decided to return to work as a freelance copywriter to allow himself more time to concentrate his energies on his first love of filmmaking. In 2007, he finished production on his first short film, Crossing Numbers. Currently, Abel is busy finishing up development of a feature-length black comedy that is slated for production in the coming year.
